1851 N-21c Large Cent Question - Coin Community Forum

Pete2226 Pillar of the Community United States 3345 Posts	Posted 06/03/2013 3:35 pm This 1851 N-21c came to me attributed as such. I have no problem acceptincg N-21 (the lump on the neck just above the tip of the curl at the base of the neck clinches it). But I don't quite understand the Die State C - because I do not understand what a "rough and blunted" legend means. The reference is to the legend outside the wreath. I just don't know what I should be seeing. Can anyone help me with that? Thanks, Pete Report this Post to the Staff

I am not seeing lettered die states in Grellman...maybe another author? I too would like to understand the "Die State C" designation. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along.
