Hello again all. I recently acquired a 1927 Australian florin commemorating Parliament House. I understand this is a relatively common coin, however, the coin instantly struck me of being of a superior finish to a standard currency piece. I was wondering if whether it was a proof example (impaired slightly), notably scarcer? As you can see from the photographs I had some difficulty photographing it due to the reflective nature of the surfaces (the photos are taken without flash and the reflection of the camera can still be seen). The coin is much prettier in hand then in photos as the camera shows up every minute impairment. I considered whether the coin had been cleaned but I have ruled this out as it doesn't have the usual characteristics of a cleaned coin. I was wondering if there were any tell tale signs to look out for in trying to determine whether this variety is a proof and if you would be able to enlighten me? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I have viewed three proof Canberra (Parliament House) florins over the years, under a magnifying glass, at auction view days.

Is it possible for you to post two (very close up) pictures of the King's beard, and of the steps in the middle of the facade od the building?

Depending on the clarity of those pictures, I may be able to answer your question.

Hi there, these are the best I can get with my mediocre camera and a bit of cropping. The steps have a small dig across them but are well struck and the beard has some slight wear due to it being somewhat impaired. Would you be able to tell me what you are looking for exactly? Thanks for any help, Jack.
