I recently tried a box and came out with 15 wheat cents. Is this a lot for a box. Are cents worth coin roll hunting? And has anyone found Indian Head cents in rolls?

Depends on what you mean by " worth it " There are many interesting finds in hunting pennies. Mint errors, Machine Doubling. Are you going to find a 1909s VSB ? Doubtful , a 1877 or 1909s IH doubtful, but there are still many interesting dates to be found, an occasional IH cull or '43 steel cent. Are you going to get rich, no, have many hrs of fun and interest collecting a sets of wheat and lincoln memorial cents, definitely.

It's definitely worth it... I pulled a 1901 indian head today... Granted like denco7 said they are rare(btw I am assuming denco stands for Denver Colorado).... And as far as wheats go 15 is pretty close to average.... the general average for wheats depending on location etc is any where from 1 in 200 to 1 in 275ish.... I have pulled boxes where I have gotten 25+ wheats and then other times only 4 or 5 in a box..... Plus also like denco said its totally fun to do... Be sure to check all your 1998 1999 2000(not the d's) for Wide AM's and check ALL 1992's for Close AM's they are rare but can be worth a good amount depending on which one you find

I am averaging 10 wheats per box, my last box I got 5 wheats and 3 canadian. I save all copper. Like the gentlemen previous said, it is not worth it if you are trying to make money. This is a hobby and can be very addictive! lol you know what I"m talking about

I am confused about this " Close AM" thing. I thought all normal pennies had the letters very close/touching in the word "America" and it was the rare ones where it is wide apart that were worth money?

All pennies made 1992 and before are suppose to be Wide AM's.... In 1992 they decided to change all business strikes to A Close AM and proofs would remain Wide AM.... This is how the variety started.... Some mistakes were made and they didn't change the die cast between proofs and business strikes in 1998 1999 and 2000 thus making business strikes with the proof reverse( Wide AM).... And actually there are proofs out there with the business reverse( Close AM) which are worth a ton of money as well

I roll search one box per month now a-days,much less then I used to do.I have looked through about 1.3 million cents and have found only three IH and a couple '43. I have found many DDO,DDR,trail dies one 1970-S SD one 1988-D RDV and some other stuff as well.So there is a lot of cool cents to be found roll searching but I don't think you will ever get rich doing it.
