Glad you got your coin.

I have had excellent overall experiences at both Stacks and Heritage, but I do encounter occasional glitches.

Stacks' website is definitely not as well developed; it's hard to search. Heritage's live bidding works well *if* there are no computer glitches, which is a big if.

Both of them are quite different from ebay, though, in the sense that it seems to take them some time to percolate auction results through their systems. Sometimes the lag time is several days, and during that time, it is almost impossible to tell if you really won the item you think you won.

Well, as of July 2, I have been informed by a Stack's Bowers Rep. that the coin in question has in fact been sold. I won't believe it until I have the funds in hand!

What coin did you sell? It wasn't a Three Cent piece, was it, lol?

As a Brit, I had a good experience with SB. It was easy to register and bid and, given time, my account was updated soon enough after the sale.

And while it's nothing directly to do with them, the package sent via USPS Express was tracked every step of the way so I could keep tabs on it daily.

My only quibble is that their photo bore little resemblance to the coin I received! I guess they had to use flash to illuminate it but ... anyway, their image on top and the coin I received below:

Stack's-Bowers-Question

Personally I'm more than happy with the swap! In the hand the coin has toning consistent with having been in an old collection for years. Plus (possibly because it's British, possibly because it was sold raw), it cost me rather less than I was prepared to pay.

Fortunately for them you were quite happy with what they sent you.

Wait, the pics are very different, but Tom's Charles I shilling is certainly the same coin as the one in the auction pics.
