Turnstone New Member United Kingdom 35 Posts	Posted 07/10/2013 06:49 am I picked this little hammered coin up in some scrap silver and it has me completely baffled. It has certainly seen better days which does not help. If someone could help with identification that would be fantastic. Weight is 3.1g and it is between 16mm and 19mm across (it is not very round). Check this zeno.ru page and you'll see many similar coins, but I can't make out enough of the script on yours to get a perfect match. If you're interested in pursuing Islamic or Indian coinage pick up a copy of Mitchiner's "World of Islam" it'll pay for itself (even though there are some errors in it) it's a good comprehensive guide.
