Hello I am new to this forum and I finally decided to join since I had a question. I was reading a book and noticed it said that in 1944 there were 3 specimen sets minted ranging from 1 cent through to $1 I am currently building a set of Canadian silver dollars and know that there were none issued from 1940-44.I was just wondering if anyone could give me some insight as to if this is true or just a typo Thanks. P.S. The book is A guide book of Canadian coins and tokens 1st edition.

There were no silver dollars issued in 1944 for circulation or in specimen sets. No silver dollars were issued in any strikes though the war years of 1940-44.
The list of specimen sets on pg 227 of Charlton 2013 Vol 1 lists a set of 5 coins for 1944 comprising 1c-50c. No dollar coin as the others have stated.
^ During the war, the Mint had a massive reduction in staff. They had enough trouble turning out coins needed for circulation, which silver dollars were not.
