As topic says, the coin has better luster than half the clad US proofs I've found.

I can't see the pic, but based on spending a lot of time in Switzerland during the 80-90s, their circulation strikes look like proofs--they are that good.

Picture should be fixed now.

And even their circulation strikes had the frosted devices/mirrored background? Man, why can't we have that kind of beauty here in the US.

Oh yeah--that's the normal circulation strike. They often have that cameo appearance.
Since 20 Rp mintage for 1992 is under 2% of the mintage of '92 US quarters, they can afford to strike them better.

Thanks for the help! Even if it's not a proof, I still got a beautiful coin for a nickel! :D

Recent circulation strikes from the Royal Australian Mint are of exceptional quiality.
They are using nickel plated dies, to extend die life.
I suspect that the steel alloy underneath the plating has been nitrided for hardening.

I was just in Switzerland about two weeks ago and got a coin back in my change that I thought was a proof. It was gold in color and had a decent cameo appearance. I guess it's probably a circulation strike now, but the quality is outstanding.

I have a 5 rappen from 2008 with a similar cameo effect, and until now I also wondered if it could've been proof. At least now I know
