Well, interesting to see...
The box looks like from hard paper, right? I thought, it will be same as for 12-subscription.
IMO, I prefer or 12 coin wood case, or to have 6 coins in the maroon small boxes.
Enjoy the coins!

What a disappointment. I would have preferred 6 capsules in the maroon box instead.

Yes, it's a dog-cheap box, like hard paper or plastic. But at least it's nice.
I couldn't include the previous coins in the picture because they are in the safe deposit box at the Bank.

Is there enough space for all 6 COA's without damaging them?
Appears to be a similar model to the $204$20 collector card...

Wow The Mint has outdone itself once again and achieved another new low. I was expecting it to be a box similar to the 12-coin subscription, but half in size. Or they would produce another insert for the 12-coin box to house only 6 coins. .. But definitely not something like this.... Hopefully no one was planning to sell this box on ebay when they ordered. On another note, it just reminded me that I still have a box of chocolate left from the last Christmas and is going to expire soon..

That's it? That's the box for the 1/2 oz pure silver coins?
I like to be able to display my coins.
Diving into a subscription series was a big step for me. My cherished coins have been waiting in their original packaging for the day that they can move into their new and proper home.
They won't be going into this paperboard holder.
Kindling.

Well arianzo I feel your pain. I'm very glad I just have the 12 coin subscription. The box for those coins is adequate, while not outstanding. The 6 coin box looks flimsy, cheesy and does not measure up to expected mint standards. x 10 I agree with all of the above comments!

The Mint's marketing department really bungled the O Canada series. First they announced a 12 coin 1/2oz O Canada series with box issued with the 3rd coin. Then they delayed the box to the 7th coin, then issued a 5 coin 1 oz O Canada series and then issued a 6 coin 1/2 oz subscription with an inferior box. Wonder what they will do next to taint these series. So far at least they have all shipped on time......

Quite frankly, I like the 'paperboard' box for the 6-coin set. Though inferior to 12 coin set, it is suitable for a collection for a youngster - which is what I bought it for(them, I bought 2). I didn't expect much more for 6 coin set at under $40 each. Having said that - I think we've all been spoiled with the extravagant boxes for the lunar series, and the F15 series.... I'd prefer they reduce the prices of the coins and if that means reducing the expense they spend on the collector boxes.... That would be fine with me.

Quote: Having said that - I think we've all been spoiled with the extravagant boxes for the lunar series, and the F15 series That's true, but together with these boxes, we have nice and simple box for 12-coin O Canada and very very nice box for 1oz O Canada. Wish, they ( RCM) were distributing cases like above (for different amount of coins) for acceptable charge.

got mine in the mail today...its not as bad as I thought.....and yes there is room for the COA's on the lid of the box (not sure why arianzo stuck it in the back?)...they slip into a little cut out, it actually looks good and protects the COA's....My box will be different from others however as I am only putting the coins with animals on them in the box!!

I like the box... maybe not as good as the other ones, but I like how the COAs are visible, and as Dcadon said, kids could maybe even prefer this one compared to the wood ones!
With the six COA in there, it should be a bit better looking, as now there is six diagonal white slots that look weird, but with COA in there, should be nice.
@Solidifier, this is what I'm doing as well, only animal ones, but I will add the other non-crap ones (IMO at lest). I pretty like the Inukshuk, RCMP and Niagara... but a coin with kids playing around... WTH?!

That box is going to look terrible in a few years as it ages. It's too bad the mint cheaped out on this. They should have made it a mini version of the 12 coin set.
For a total cost of $240 spent you get this cheap box. Compared to the duck series (that looks much better IMO) for a total of $210 you get the wood box, duck call and much, much lower mintage. I know there's 1 1/2 oz. more silver but that doesn't come close to justifying this cheap box.

I didn't get the subscription because of the box. I wanted the coins and the box is like a bonus that although is not amazing, I like it.
