Hi all - Just wondering if anyone has tried a box of these pennies? I took the plunge and I ordered a box due to I just cant get any anywhere. $52 for $25 worth of coins. Either way I'll get many hours of pleasure, might find something and can always take the rest back to the bank later. If anyone tried a box of these Id love to hear how it went. Thanks http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-BANKERS-b...em460408214d

His boxes appear legit. The only problem is the shipping. He isn't overcharging, its our postal system. My experiences with those types of boxes is average 10-15 pre 1959. You can at least return the rest to a bank for cash back. Combined shipping would be your best bet but still pricy. I don't know where you live but maybe you can try driving to the nearest rural area and check with small town banks. Or call them first and talk to the teller in charge of coin handling.
What do you specifically pull from the boxes?

Ha ha. I just saw your location. Strike up a pick up deal with him. You won't pay shipping and maybe you can get a bulk order deal.

They've got 55 boxes left. What would shipping be on 55 boxes? How many 10 cent stamps would ship a box weighing 1000 LBS?...hmmmmm..might be worth the drive.

When the bank runs dry I think I will be done with pennies. If you were local I would give you a better deal than that but it seems crazy to ship them across the country. I didn't know the demand for pennies was this high. I may set a few unsearched boxes aside if people are already paying 3x face value (including shipping) on ebay.

My local coin dealer offered me a 6500+ circulated canadian bag of pennies for $150.00 today. I told him no for now. only 38's to 97's, mostly 60's, 70's and 80's I bet. He got them for 2x face.
Currently I'm still finding on the average 1 per roll or 25 per box, with 1 in 50 rolls being a George V. I'm sure it will dry up here soon. Which will be a bummer. I do love the Canadian cent!

I live 18 miles from this seller and will probably go there soon for like 10 boxes. all the banks now arnt allowed to give you pennies and they just get shipped to be melted.

Good deal, then you will need another 2 four of beer to go through them. All sorts of errors will show up during the search.

The thought of keeping a few of these boxes for a year or three or four and it would probably be worth it in the long run (unsearched) could bring in a good premium later. I even seen someone parting out the rolls at a $1.50 each not too long ago. Its having the available space to store them, for me anyway. It would be hard to resist searching them too. Retired now lots of time on my hands and that's the reason I started looking at coins several months ago...Thanks for all your comments

I have 125lbs that I've separated so far but haven't searched for varieties yet. 1965-1996 minus 1967. Still not sure what I want to do with them yet. Some of the boxes I've gotten in heavy plastic bank bags that the customer fills to a certain line instead of rolling the coins. I find those are the best for storage because the plastic is really strong, they hold a lot and have handles for easier carrying. Each bag holds over 30lbs of pennies.
