Not sure if it's OK to post a wish list here, but FWIW I'm in the market for a nice example or two of coins with Zeus-Ammon and perhaps one with a bust of Pan.

I'll probably get one of the Ptolemy Zeus-Ammons, like this one from Forum

Zeus-Ammon-Coins,-Pan-Coins

This style was issued in a broad range of sizes and I'd like them to be in the ~35-45mm range. A nice obverse is desired, especially showing the horn.

I am searching the internet and have bookmarked many possibles from Forum, Vcoins, MuseumSurplus, AncientImports, ebay, and a few other upcoming auctions.

As for a coin with Pan, I haven't found as many in a style that suits my particular need, but if you know of anything cool, show me. I've seen a few Roman provincials with Pan.

PM me if you have anything you might consider selling of if you've come across anything that fits the bill online.

Thanks!

I've been wanting one of these for a long time but have never gotten around to buying one. I love these large coins.

I also really really really want one. It will probably be one of my next purchases. I wish I had enough money for the 90gram one on Forvm. Can you imagine having to haul that coin around.

I have something specific I'm doing with the coin, a gift. Gotta get one for me too, so I'll need a pair.

TIF, a little birdy might know of some cheap coins which are pretty big. Not best quality, but cheap as you like. For anything bigger than 38mm (go big or go home, after all), prices go through the roof. I've found a cheap 41mm which is alright for cheap, though. PM me if you're interested in taking a peep.

TIF- if you want a nice one it will cost you a lot of money. For years I looked for a nice one at the size I wanted that I could afford, and honestly I never found it. I bought this one from a long time forum friend, at a very good deal. Not as big as I wanted but still great! Huge, with a perfect chocolate patina.

38.6mm x 45.8g

That's a great one. It would do nicely. There are dozens of them for sale online right now, maybe fifty or more. There's one I really want but it costs more than I would like to pay. Tempting though. Several I've bookmarked are pretty good.

Wanna sell that one?

And can any of you tell me about the center divots? I'm assuming it's from the making of the flan or something... They all have them. I'd love to read more about how this particular coin was made.

Sell this one....hum I never "sold" anything before but I am sure if the price where right...wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
I could explain everything you would want to know about the "dimple", but why bother when these guys did it sooooo well,

BTW- you should be aware that the larger the coin is the cruder the Zeus, and if you want one that has a nice even patina with good dirt you surely will pay through the nose.

I think I can see where this is going ....

Ptolemey in .999 Silver and 14K Gold

Zeus-Ammon-Coins,-Pan-Coins

Marcus Agrippa in Bronze
Zeus-Ammon-Coins,-Pan-Coins
Uniface
Zeus-Ammon-Coins,-Pan-Coins

As the price of Gold was once about $300 per Oz
I knocked off 2 rings for myself
Augustus and Zeus reverse off Philip III (Alexander's halfwit brother)

The Agrippa was intended for a belt buckle which I never got around to completing.
Zeus-Ammon-Coins,-Pan-Coins

Antiochus VII in blue wax

Zeus-Ammon-Coins,-Pan-Coins

Zeus-Ammon-Coins,-Pan-Coins

Am I blue ..... Am I blue (I'm dating myself I think)

You might notice something on the Ptolemy
.999 Silver shrinks more than 14K Gold

Nice work, FR! Yeah, something like that, although the coin I buy for a gift will be original rather than cast. I'll take a mold in case I decide to reproduce it, perhaps in bronze or silver. If so, shrinkage won't matter a bit, might even be better if I'm starting with a huge coin.

I don't want to get the finest known example (like I'd spend that much anyway...) because I will feel a bit guilty about turning the actual coin into jewelry. It will be bezel set, both obv and rev viewable.
