I have a small hoard of silver nickels from 42-45.
At the time when the silver value was $1.07 I called a couple of
places to see what their buy price was, one said 25 cents and the
other said 50 cents, neither was a coin dealer, I will be taking them to Philadelphia in September. My question is what is a coin dealer likely to offer for them, silver value, half silver value or what

Being 35% silver, for a dealer to melt these they do not get full spot, or close to it.
My local dealer explained it to me at one time, and under 80% most smelters greatly reduce what they will pay the dealer for scrap.

I recently sold 200 @ 190, applied to a trade w/my local B&M.
His initial offering price was laughable.
I hoarded for awhile just to check for varieties.
I think the war nic craze, paricularly as bullion, is petering out.
You can still net about a buck via the bay, but it's not worth my time.

thanks, guess I will wait for Philadelphia, maybe make a trade there and get more than selling outright.
