I was wondering if anyone knew of any great references for spotting counterfeit world notes, especially based on the different printing processes and more specifically on notes from China and the People's Republic.
I have never been to keen about collecting currency except for those special ones that are really works of art or from a period in history that interests me. I have been looking resources relating to the currency I have purchased or will purchase in the future. I need to put off my currency purchases until I have educated myself in what I need to know what to look for in the banknote design should raise a red flag. look how to recognize a fake banknote. If there are any books and/or websites with articles please shoot me the info. Thanks, E.G.
If the banknote has a watermark it is usually the best way to check the note. Most modern notes have both a watermark and a security strip. I would avoid Chinese banknotes there are way too many fakes out there.
If you are looking for information on modern notes, The MRI Bankers Guide is the way to go. The current edition is expensive but you can find older editions.
