Thats right people, I'm putting together a John Wilkinson set. Its gonna be tricky stuff.
So many forgeries made - 'evasion' peices, if you will. From mules to stupid mistakes (starting with my unknowing John Wilkison error).
So, I'm starting now. I'm getting Genius with tools and a Red/Brown Vulcan alogn with 2 worn furnaces. In one batch, no doubt.

No idea. I'm not going for date and variety, just design. Ill acquire dates as I go, I'm sure.
slight hitch being a couple of really nice (to me) tokens coming up for sale in the next couple of days I'm going to try for.

hmm think I remember doing something about him in school, not sure but is he connected to some bersham ironworks in north wales area? I heard there was some iron smith there think named Wilkinson if I remember and created iron coins which he paid his workers with. but may be getting confused!

According to Bell R C:Commercial coins 1787-1804, it was John Wilkinson's father Isaac who built the ironworks at Bersham, near Wrexham, who was later joined by his son. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bersham_IronworksAll the references I have give Wilkinson's tokens listed under Shropshire. There is mention of a silver 3/6 token dated 1788 ( 100 minted ), with an edge inscription of "WILLEY SNEDSHILL BERSHAM BRADLEY".
