It's been two years since I have added to my early commemorative set (side tracked by other coins). It will be set free to join the others in my album. What do you think PCGS gave this one?

Lovely coin muddler and certainly appears to be an example worthy of breaking a 2-year dry spell in these classic silver commemorative.

Difficult to grade any coin by photograph ... and for this particular example the challenge is compounded by the fact that the legend/portraits overwhelm the coin ... vey little fields available to view.

PCGS tends to assign high technical grades to the Norfolk for that very reason ... I'm guessing yours is Gem MS.

Thanks for sharing!

Congrats on the pickup!

I concur with nickelsearcher regarding the heavy use of inscriptions on the Norfolk, they often make it difficult to differentiate between mint state grades. I've seen a coin graded MS-63 along side one graded MS-65 and had to look very closely to find the marks that caused the grading difference.

Is the color seen in your images the true color of the coin?

I'll assume the dark areas seen on the ship's sails are not the result of wear -- hard to tell from these images -- I'll say MS-63/64.

The coin is bright white with a hint of golden toning on the reverse, housed in an old PCGS rattler holder. MS65

Wow...agree with the others - nice way to end the dry spell. I thought like commems it was 63/64 and 65 is easily acceptable.

They sure were wordy...
