The USA Banknotes looks awesome to me and the design was always very clever.
There are no bad designs or any bad graphic experiments.
The American bills were up to the colorful new series always simple and elegant.
In the USA it was hard to get the trust of the people for the paper money. To create trust in paper money the issuers covered this in gold. The country was and is very large, the people came from all over Europe, the development in the territories or states was very different.
So it was practical and clever to produce paper money with a high recognition.
Would a small general store in the Chicago of 1885 accepted an NC Charter bill from Alabama?
I'm not sure? After the 1 world war,the Americans long have trust in their Paper money, the USA became to a world power and the US$ was a global currency. The US$ was in many parts of the World the new strong cash currency. Again, there was no reason for graphic experiments.
The uniform design and the plainness of the US$ was a reason for the smooth, free international cash traffic.
How would to go this with permanent color and design changes?
No one in Panama, Colombia, Costa Rica or anywhere else would have known what is a real $ and what is not a real $.The USA is not Scotland, 6 issues Banks with 6 different colored $ or £20, that would be an enormous economic harm for the US economy to the present.
Apologies Americans, here in Europe, America is not known for his simple elegance. But the dollar design is traditionally characterized as factual, and simple graceful.
The $US looks like a world currency, no experiments.
The colorful $ are too wild for me, that is why I collect your green or brown backs.
I write this because I know the arguments;
always the same, Presidents and buildings, everything is green. Ohh, the dollar is boring. There are so much more beautiful designs and colors.
Why do you favor the dollars?
I have a very simple answer.
I do not like it so colorful, I prefer a straight, clear line. If I wanted color, then I could collect Disney Dollars.
I have now well over hundred US large sizer and over 300 small sizer, there is no turning back.
This does not mean that I do not collect bills from other countries.
Banknotes are so interesting, especially the old ones.
I love money that is why I buy money and therefore I never have money.
