So I bought this lot:

I saw a really nice republican semis. And thats totally what I got! I assumed the background coins were late roman crud - but wow was I surprised. Someone very knowledgable bout coins collected these. In there was a republican denarius fouree, a tetricus II (unusually with beard), a Victorinus and (now this surprised me) a Constantinople commemorative. But rarer than that - this is the Star in wreath, CONS below. I've never even seen one for sale. It came to me caked so I did a bit of cleaning before I realised what I had.

Rundown:

When I posted this picture of a Republican Semi's it was greeted by nonchalance and underwhelming. This was a little surprising to me because I was rather pleased with it. These coins are possibly much more impressive in the flesh though because of their size an weight.

Nice portrait on yours, and reverse is similar to mine which I liked because its my first ancient with a ship on it.

For these coins I am guessing the S on the obverse and reverse denotes that it is a Semis?
