It is indeed Byzantine. Mintmark ALEB or something similar (maybe ALEZ), denomination I+B, one of the peculiarly Egyptian denominations, the dodecanummium (12 nummi). Not entirely unlike
this Wildwinds example of Justinian I. I can't ID the emperor; the type was issued from Justinian through to Heraclius, I believe.
