Does anyone that lives near the US border search American penny boxes for Canadian pennies? Or rare American pennies?
Since we can't get any more from Canada.

I bought a box the last time I went and didn't find anything great, I got more wheat pennies in Canadian circulation.

If yes, have you found anything worth keeping?

I typically find about a dozen Canadian pennies per box from the Chicago area. Almost all are pre-steel issues, since most counters here in the USA reject magnetic coins.

I recently bought a few boxes of Canadian cents and have gone through about 60 rolls so far and found exactly 1 US cent, it was out numbered by the 2 Euro 2-cent pieces found in it. That has surprised me since these boxes came from a seller in Hamilton, where US coins are routine. (I was in Hamilton recently and roughly a quarter of the change I received was US.)

When I am in the USA in the winter,I buy about a box a week.Keep all the pre 1982 and return the others into the penny arcade for refund. Will check for varieties and Mint Mark in the future.Still no 1943 to date.

Canadian Pennies are now out of circulation. For copper lovers, American pre82 are a great choice.

Yessir...search about 2 boxes a month in the summer and alot more in the winter. Average about 25 canadians with 1 George V or George VI per box. All are pre steel issues with most dating in the 70's-80's. It hasn't really tapered off yet...in fact I think it's picked up a bit since people are basically throwing them away down here.

I keep all canadians, wheats and varieties. Return most of the shields and anything after 1982. I know of 1 other gent here in town that is retired and does the same on a larger scale than I (he doesn't collect varieties or even care about the dates much) just wants the copper...he has over 2 million coppers and still goin' strong.
