Hi everyone,

I was going through my grandfathers old coin collection which was left to me, and I came across this item. To be honest I am not even sure if it is a coin or not, but any help would be gratefully appreciated.

These photos are not entirely clear. Can you transcribe the inscriptions?
Obverse appears to say "SENAVETVS CIVITAS VIRGINIS", & the other side I can't figure out at all. I'm tempted to call it a modern fantasy of a mediaeval coin.

In the 1st picture it says 'senavetvs civitas virginis' (not sure if the 'a' are actually a's and the same with the'v', they might be a 'u') and on the reverse it says what looks like (I've never seen this lettering before) 'abfa I to principivm 7 finis'(again the 'v' could be a 'u' and the 'f' could be a 'h'). But some of the letters are completely different to modern day english lettering

Gives the impression of a modern reproduction of the coinage of the Republic of Siena from the period 1404-1555, but I'm not familiar enough to authenticate, or identify the denomination.

Yeah I think that's what it is looking at the picture above. That's great, thanks a million for your help.

So the reverse legend should be ALFA ET O PRINCIPIVM Z FINIS.
And welcome!
