Well I can see a 'pearl' diadem and on the reverse what appears to be a leg with the accompanying foot somewhat raised. My guess would be Emperor dragging captive by the 'hairs'

Try soaking this coin for a while either in distilled water or olive oil. I prefer olive oil myself.

GLORIA ROMANORVM - emperor dragging captive. The small flan makes me guess valens (but thats just from personal experience of having small flanned valens'). You probably could work out the emperor with more cleaning.

Oh boy it is tough. But on the other hand some of my "culls" have turned out to be interesting. Thought it was worth asking before consigned to an ebay lot.

Have you tried using a brass bristle brush?

I don't have a brass brush. I did have one and I found it too harsh. I didn't bother to replace it.

I have seen on another thread that a soaking in WD40 may work. Shouldn't hurt the underlying metal on this one!
Worth the risk, because there isn't too much to loose.
