I recently purchased a slabbed 2005 Lincoln Cent. The NGC slab lists the coin as "2005 SMS". Is the mint producing special mint cents like they did in the sixties or if not, what is the origin of this designation?
Since 2005, the US Mint Sets have been made with a satin finish. This finish is different from the Special Mint Sets of the late 1960s- the strike finish of those was more similar to a proof.
