As the democratic debates are about to start, a question crossed my mind.

Would it affect your vote?

Thanks,
Norton

Haha, yeah, I care about politics so little that a coin collector would get my vote.
Rest in Peace

I'm sitting here watching it.

Nope, I don't think being a coin collector would make a dime's worth of difference.

Ha ha. Coin collector status would not affect my vote in the slightest although it would be a nice attribute.

It depends on whether or not he felt gentle cleaning on older silver was acceptable.

I would hope Americans would take this election more seriously than choosing a candidate because of his hobby.

America needs a leader who will get them out of another endless war.
LBJ was in an endless war in Vietnam and I remember Nixon was elected with a plan of 'Peace with Honour'. The war continued for many more years with that lie.

Vote for someone who puts American soldiers lives above corporate profits!

I'm certain nobody in their right mind would consider one candidate over another because he or she is a coin collector. You were joking, right Norton?

The comments drawn by your post are rich. If our forum members have such strong opinions on current events they should consider posting on the general forum. Kicking things up a notch on that page would be refreshing.

That said, Teddy Roosevelt was very successful at putting a new face on our early 20th century coinage. I'm sure most agree his interest and enthusiasm ushered in some of the most extraordinary coin series we've ever seen. It would be refreshing to see a modern president take in interest in changing the designs and denominations of our modern coins.

I've heard a lot of people saying they'll vote for a certain someone running for president just because she's a woman. If we are to be consistent in our lack of reasoning, then it makes about as much sense to vote for a candidate based on numismatic prowess.

No doubt plenty of voters will cast their votes for very shallow reasons, I don't know too many that will admit it though. Kind of like writing JERK on your forehead. BTW, I'm sure there are an equal number of folks that will NOT vote for a candidate just because she's a woman.

All jokes aside, there have been any number of 'past' Presidents who have been ardent coin collectors and have put togather some very nice collections. Of course you could say they were in a position to be given the pick of the litter as some of our early coinage was being minted.
Had to stop and think when Byan1315 said he would vote for someone only if they were giving one of their coin collection for each vote. Well, I may be wrong but there have been at least two Presidents who have been acused of exactly this practice, of buying the votes. Except the ones who were already in the cemetary who voted any way.
