Well, I didn't 'find' it as in picked it up off a parking lot, but I found one at auction and bought it While trolling for Guess the Gods fodder I came across this type a month or so ago and really really really wanted one. There were a couple here and there but they weren't in very good condition. This one isn't as nice as the example I posted in GTG, but it's not bad and the price was less than I expected. Very happy!! PHOENICIA, Aradus Trajan. I love Trajan's coins and I like Phoenician coins, and I like double bust coins, but I don't like yours, and I will tell you why.
1) Its not mine.
2) Its yours.
3) I want it.
Great pick up J you got great taste.

Very nice. Now you need a Trajan from when Hercules had his back!

You are so right about that! I've been keeping an eye out for that issue as well as a Trajan with Tyche & river god on the reverse. Lots of Trajans hovering around my buy list :)
Very nice coin. How long have you had it?

Not too long, at all. Maybe 6 months or so. It took me a long time to find one in acceptable condition. I him and hawed over a few examples. I finally got one at a good price in a solid "F" example.
If your in the market for one, try to find one with a balence of portrait and legend. You will be surprised how hard that really is. Unless you want to spend mondo pesos.

Quote: try to find one with a balance of portrait and legend. You will be surprised how hard that really is I've noticed that. It's going to take some time to find just the right one, balancing condition and price. I like them quite a bit but not enough to shell out $$$ for a prime specimen. Too many other things vying for my money. Speaking of, I've been wildly irresponsible lately, bidding and buying haphazardly. Gotta stop that. Too dang easy to click 'bid'. Plus, I want my purchases to have more thought and meaning, rather than just 'I had some money so I spent it'. A few times I thought, 'oh, I'll bid on that one too since I'm already paying shipping, and that one'-- a completely ridiculous rationalization given shipping's tiny percent of total price. Especially since the add-ons were nothing remarkable.

Ah you preach to the choir. Very little in my collection is gem, and even less is FDC. I can say I don't bid as much anymore, instead I buy tons if other stuff to get huge overall discounts on the one or two piece I need.
I also buy stuff no one else wants(yet.)
I would also be careful of mixing Bacardi and bids, very bad combo.
