Oooooh, I've been very very bad. Another one for me while shopping on behalf of my friend. I've been a sucker for Pan ever since reading Jitterbug Perfume by one of my favorite authors, Tom Robbins. Looks like Athena has been doing the Buns of Steel workout KINGS of MACEDON, Antigonos II Gonatas 277/6-239 BC, struck after 270 BC AR Tetradrachm 31mm, 17.06 g Amphipolis mint Obverse: head of Pan in center of Macedonian shield, lagobolon over shoulder; shield decorated with stars within crescents Reverse: BASILEWS ANTIGONOU, Athena Alkidemos walking left, brandishing thunderbolt and shield; helmet left, EMP monogram right SNGCop 1200v, EMP (maybe)R. Wonderful, absolutely wonderful. I have come close to pulling the trigger on one of these for a while but haven't done it yet. I need to remedy that.
Congratulations.
A really envious, Martin

Wow. When I win the lottery (I fully intend to) this is something I'm going after.

I too have come close to pulling the trigger on one of these, I was torn between one of these and a rather unique looking Hunnic coin, unfortunetly I had to buy a new computer. I do like computers but lacks the spirit of a gnarly ancient coin. Nice piece and good choice.

"Buns of steel"? That was the first thing that I noticed! Unfortunate die cutting. I once saw a similar thing at a bucks' party, with the flowing light weight garment afire! Quite dramatic in a darkened room!

this reverse continues to mutate also as time progresses... This guy drove the last nail into the Indo Greek coffin... The reverse is familiar but it takes a little imagination to see it. Rujuvula Satrap of Chach 10 BC-10 AD
