Had one in hand yesterday beautiful hunks of silver but this coin dealer had them listed at 3100.00 while the mint has them listed at about 2400.00 doesn't that seem like an excessive markup?

5 kg? Is that a typo? The only 5kg silver I'm aware of was issued at $10k. Sounds like you are referring to a 1 kg coin.

Colonial Acres have 1kgs on sale now for between 1800 and 2138 depending on the year and design.

The 2014 issue is available from the mint for 2250 so if that is the coin to which you are referring, I would agree that a dealer wanting 3100 is excessive.

JandM have a good listing of the various coins too and some at good prices. http://www.jandm.com/script/getitem...ID=5&PID=288

My favourite of these is the 2013 Maple Leaf forever. It's on my wish list.

I can't imagine there's a big/quick turnover on these coins so any dealer probably wants to get as much back as he can for it considering how much money he's had tied up in it for however long. But then sometimes they'll let it go for less just to cut their losses and get some cash back to buy something else.
Or so I'm told. I've never found that happens.

Lofl, I had the opportunity to buy KG bars for flat spot. What's so special about the format? Or do you mean the RCM overpriced KG "coins" specifically?
