So I got new batteries for the flashlight and had another day off work, and off I went to the community center where I was hitting pay dirt last night. Apparently there was still treasure to be found! I picked up .98 cents and STILL had hits, but now the bulb in the flashlight has burned out so once more I was stymied by technology. Still, that brings my same location 2-day total to $4.04. I found a small metal ring as well (not silver, unfortunately). This was also the first time I have found a Wheat cent (1952-D)! Not too bad, I think. The coins are tumbling in the rock tumbler in hopes of being re-introduced to the economy.

The funny thing is, after cleaning the dirt off it, that 1952-D looks to be in VF condition (except for the scratch I made on the back with the shovel...d'oh!) and is in considerably nicer shape than most of the other cents I found. It was under a cut-down shrub and I wonder if it wasn't planted there with the shrub back in 1952?
