my brother-in-law has a 1978 penny that is the same colour as a loonie...does anyone know if they had such a thing in 1978...?

Could be a foreign planchet. Or someone fooling around with plating. Or it simply toned that color.

Would have to see pictures, weigh and measure it to know which.

Hi guys

SPP, the coin weighs 3.18 grams and according to the info I have been collecting on coin weights, a 1978 used penny weights approx. 3.198 grams. Pictures of coin is below and one is next to a normal penny..thanks
