Last weeks I saw a lot of cheap coins of the Kushan Empire coming along.
Now after some time I had decided to buy some too, for just 10 € - 2 decent coins:

I was wondering why these coins are so cheap?

Kushan Empire: Vima Kadphises (circa 100 - 127/8 AD) AE Tetradrachm 27 mm diam. Weight: 17 grms.

And this one:
Soter Megas' (Vima Takto ) (circa 80 - 100 AD) AE Tetradrachm 20mm

Well it depends...

Kushan coins are fairly common, but Kushan coins in "gF" and better are extremely rare. The soil in that part of the world is highly acidic and copper alloys do not hold up very well. So a Kushan of lets say Kanishka I can be had for $5 in "G","gF" will run you $20-40 depending on the appeal, but a coin in VF+ could run into the many hundreds of dollars.

They are rare as compared to lets say 3rd century Romans. They issued a vast series of coinage in Bronze and Gold and next to nothing in silver. They are cheap because only you and I collect them. (I'm being facetious.)

The first one is F/G the second is probably gF/gF... I don't like grading coins because its difficult and not always agreed upon but I think you would be safe with my grades on those two.

Oh BTW Dutch-

I would be very happy with the first one there is an exceptional amount of legible inscription on the obverse and a decent amount of facial detail. Kudos!
