1968 dollar
Hi all, does anyone know what type of error this is? I figure planchet but Iam not sure. Its part of a mint set still in original packaging. The nickel has some problems too in fact several of the coins lack detail. Thanks

I have two 68's not in original packaging but seem to have the same lines running through it also.
Just thought I'd pass this info on.

Roller marks perhaps?----Because they are on the reverse and obverse.

Common on several years of nickel dollars... this is a function of the rolling the nickel sheets, prior to the planchets being cut. Rolling marks are always parallel and can be seen through the devices and the fields. Most commonly seen on the 1968 nickel dollars, I suspect the mint was not quite prepared for striking such large coins made from pure nickel, in the transition from the silver dollars.
