I ordered something from the Royal Canadian Mint on Thursday the 22nd. My order is still listed as processing. I'm in the US so I understand the order could take some time-just wondering if it's weird that I've gotten no updates Feedback is appreciated. Thanks,

Completely normal.
In fact, depending on what you ordered, it's normal for your order to show 'processing' for months before it's shipped.

No, its not weird. Sometimes I don't hear anything at all from them and my order arrives at the door. The coin should have a "ship On date" on their web page.
Sometimes you might get a back order email ( most of the time ) and half the time your online account page will show processing or shipped.

Depending on the item, 3 months + wait can be normal

From my recent experience with RCM, if you ordered something from the Mint and they shipped them to you right away, that implies you have ordered something that is not hot, not in demand, and have little to no chance to see any appreciation in aftermarket price.

3 months+? No kidding
For future reference, if I selected the $35 shipping option (FedEx International Express) would it make a significant difference? Or is it processing time that's the issue?
Thanks again

What I hear from you guys is quote the surprise. I've never had to wait more than 2 weeks for an order and I always choose the cheapest shipping.

Don't waste your money. cheapest shipping should be fine. The only way I know the mint ship my item is when the transaction is charged on my credit card. Not a temporary charge but an actual Charge. If you are worry about your order, give them a call. They should able to give you an update. It doesn't mean it will speed up your shipping time though. If you call them, I find it is best to call between 10:30 to 11:30 eastern time.

RCM has become terrible as a customer service oriented business. shipping is awful. don't bother paying for the more expensive option because it's not the shipping that is the issue, it's the front office.

Thanks for asking this question and for the responses - I've also been waiting for around a month for something I had assumed was a stock item...

Not everything is always in stock, and if it isn't in stock the Mint requires a certain number of orders - a number known only to them - before they do a run to fill those orders.

Fredgr8, your experience is, sadly, all-too-common. I am confident you will receive the coin you ordered, but not at all confident it will be promptly--although it might be. Definitely not a shipping choice issue. And to both you and KevA!

To OP - I have old coins in my collection still showing up as "processing"... The RCM IT is well known to be a separate entity from Sales/Marketing. You just need to be on the right side of the fence.

Yes! Welcome to fredgr8 and KevA! I don't understand all the complaining about the RCM's shipping. Anything I've ever ordered was always promptly delivered with no delays. I have always been notified when an order has been shipped, and have been provided with the tracking number. I have absolutely no coins on back order or for which I have been waiting months. Now if you believe any of this, I have some prime real estate for you in the Florida Everglades...

When you combine the Royal Canadian Mint with Canada Post it's amazing anything ever gets delivered at all. And then throw the USPS into the mix...
