Dracula was actuelly a Romanian ruler. Vlad II "Dracul" (Vlad "the Devil") got the title of "Dragon" from the Emperor Sigismund of Luxemburg for fightung against the turks. Vlad II was the ruler ("Domn", Lord) of Wallachia (Valahia) between 1436-1442 and then again between 1443-1446.
The son of Vlad I was Vladislav III "Dracula". He was nicknamed by the turks "Tepes" ("The Impaler"). He ruled between 1456-1462 and then again in 1476. Cruel deeds: he beheaded his predecessor, he impaled those who lied and he nailed the turbans of the turk ambassadors to their heads because they refused to take them off in front of Tepes.
These two princes (Domni, Voievozi) of Wallachia are closely linked to the story of Dracula. During their reign, only silver ducats were minted, as far as I know. If you want to see some pics, tell me.
The main castle of Tepes was Bran castle.
2003 5000 LEI "Castelul Bran" (625 years from the beginning of the construction of the castle), .999 gold, 35 mm, 31,103 grams, flat edge, proof, mintage: 250 pieces:

As far as I know, this is the only official romanian gold coin linked to the name of Dracula.
