I just finished removing these coins from the mint cellophane in order to get a more clear look at them and this is what I found. Odd I have seen better quality in circulation. I posted the dollar here the other day and every coin in this set seems to have problems. How unusual is this? The beavers fur lacks detail and this fifty cent piece has a something wrong with the crown as well as marks all over the face-obverse. thanks

I guess the lack of detail in the leaves of the nickel isn't so unusual. BUT I have to ask if anybody can tell me about the crown on the fifty cent coin...is it a result of filled die? thanks

Welcome to the world of weak strikes with nickel composition coins... the highest points on the devices (or deepest parts of the dies), will lack detail in a weak strike.
