Yes! My first denarius of Augustus! Just won the auction for which I think is a good price: 39 euro's incl. secured shipping Can you tell me if I did well? I really wanted this denarius and was expecting more bids.. but no, first bid was enough. The condition is quite fine with a good head of Augustus. 18mm 2,9 grams Edited by Dutchgulden 09/02/2013 4:47 pm

Beautiful bust, very nice coin. It appears to be a fouree.

I noticed the colour on the edge, but that could just be the lighting. For 39 Euros, a good buy. With legends not all there, the value would be held back a bit.

Thank ypu all! The red colour should be lighting, all his coins (included 20 silver) have a red appearance overall, not just at the rim of the coins.I send him an email for extra photos to double check.but it appears to.be ok. 100 procent score as well.

Dutch, for me it seems a little 'too' cheap. You would expect to pay closer to 100 euros for this coin in this condition. I think you either have a brilliant bargain or all is not quite what it seems.

It was an auction which had a starting bid of 1 euro (like all his advertisements)and I really think its a bargain and an original coin. He guaranteed me its original and I checked some other advertisements, a lot of the coins have a red appearance.. (lighting I think?) Looks very genuine to me right? Here are two other denarius of him: and here a bronze coin, also with the same 'red' look:

UPDATE! Its genuine, silver! I'm cleaning the coin now with lemon juice to remove the black toning on the coin, checked the rim and the rest of the coin very carefully and my conclusion is thats its real silver! I think the seller used contrast and light with a photo-programm to make te coin lighter for the photo, because there is absolutely no red/pink patina on it, ony (almost) black toning which is coming off now.
The rim is already clean, pure silver! VERY happy to know!

Glad to hear that it was just a lighting issue and the coin is not a fouree. Congrats on a nice coin.
