NVU: What technique of polishing are you accustomed to? Polishing would create a large divet or crater because they stamp it deep, not to mention a huge reduction in the weight of the bar.

This is just me but I would never buy a gold bar that's been put in a plastic package like those - way too risky. If I can't bend or dent it I wouldn't buy it. Get to know gold.
