Any plans on an upgrade in the future? This forum is missing a ton of modern features like private messenging, one button quoting, etc.

They're not missing, they're not here by choice.

#1 Private messaging - Private messages are not really private on any forum. They can be moderated just like forum posts. We have seen havoc on other forums because of accusations of staff reading PMs. Won't happen here will it? Email is fine.

#2 One button quoting - Removed by me. I (and a lot of other members) got tired of scrolling for miles because of ridiculously long quotes. Especially quotes of quotes of quotes of quotes..... Just highlight what you want to post, paste it in, highlight it and click the Forum-Question. Only takes a second.

Other forums could upgrade and remove them.

Trust me, I am constantly working on this forum, trying to make it better. However, I do not fall into the "Bell and Whistle" trap that a lot of webmasters do. If it's useful and doesn't cause problems it will be added. I don't do things "for show" or just to say we have it.

Perfect example... live chat. We get people that ask for it every couple months or so. I've never seen a forum use it successfully (there always empty), and it defeats the whole purpose of the forum anyway, so it will never be here.

You said "a ton", what else?

Anyways, I appreciate the suggestions, I read and respond to them all, and I do implement the ones that will be beneficial so keep them coming.

Ahhhh....man....turn on private messenging please. That's one of my favorite features, I absolutely HATE using email for communication for many reasons: 1)I use aggressive spam filtering and so do most webmail based services, a valid email may never be seen. 2) I don't have access to webmail at work, it's blocked. 3) Email can be slow, it just takes a lot longer to communiate with someone when compared to using PM's. 4) PM's are easy and convenient

As far as feature set, just look at any of the big forum players like VBB, FuseTalk or even Ikon board. All the forums I visit based on those are awesome. I admin a forum too, have a look:

Thanks for listening.

Nope. Ain't gonna happen.

At the risk of sounding mean, I refuse to cater to people that use inferior ISP's (are you listening AOL?) and email systems. If an email client or ISP is blocking legitimate emails it's time to switch clients or ISP's, not complain to me. Sorry.

At the risk of sounding mean again, please tell me how this is my problem to solve.

Using the forum is lightning fast. (It took 0.06 seconds to rattle this change.) PM's are ONLY fast if the user is logged in when its sent. If you don't use real email, and I PM you, you won't get it until you log back into the forum. If you used email you'd get it right away, but you'd get the email system email right away too. If you want to chat about coins, use the forum. If you want to chat about something else, get a phone number.

You never answered my question. I explained the 2 you asked about, plus another one, what are the other "tons" of features?
