I have a web site on ancient imitations. It is about genuinely ancient coins that were imitations in their day. http://esty.ancients.info/imit/ Today I added one very unusual piece-- a DIVO VESPASIANO of Trajan Decius. When official coins were good silver, there was profit to be made in imitating them. However, deceptive imitations for profit became less common in the mid-third century when the silver content of coins became low. This piece is between the period when counterfeit silver pieces were common (up to about 238) and the period of "barbarous radiates" (beginning about 270) when imitations had no deceptive silvering. If you are curious about ancient imitations, take a look around the site.
I have a lot of imitations. Very difficult to sell, a nice Magnentius went very cheaply. I've decided not to list any more. I've got some nice interesting FEL TEMPs - I've got one with the horseman on the right, somewhere.
