hello guys I'm new to this forum and new to stacking. I came here to ask for some help. I was really interested on buying a 2008 $10 gold buffalo slabbed. I saw a couple on ebay but they have a really high premium is it worth buying it. I'm just stacking gold but planing to stack silver but I want to make it more interesting so I want to buy some numismatic coins.

I wouldn't pay the premium fractional buffs require. If you're stacking get a $10 AGE instead. They sell for a small premium to melt value.

I suggest the slabbed American silver eagles along with 10 oz silver bars hoarding and I like $5 gold and $10 platinum eagles for their metal and numismatic collectability... just my 2 cents... good luck with your collection and welcome to the form! PEACE...

For sure shy away from the 2008-W coins until you become a serious collector. You can get a 2008 1oz bullion buffalo NGC slabbed perfect 70 coin from APMEX for about $1570 right now. You can get a raw (unslabbed) version for the same price as that 1/4 oz proof.

If you are just wanting to stack gold why would you want to buy a quarter oz for almost $1500 when you could buy a full oz for that money? If you want to stack gold, stack gold. If you want to buy coins, buy coins. If you want to buy coins in order to stack gold only buy them when they are close to the stacking gold price. This one ain't.

Agreed with condor101, for that kind of money you could get a 1oz bullion American Buffalo coin. I'd stay away from the 2008-W Buffaloes until I was more familiar with the series and/or decided to collect the 8-coin proof and burnished set. Just my Two Cents.
