I was just reading this article.

What lies ahead for the fate of the Sacagawea/Native American dollars after 2016? Will the series end or even perhaps go back to a regular design with NO edge lettering?

Not sure, but I would like it if they would turn them into silver versions of the gold American buffalo. Maybe they could then change the design every so often. Oh well, I can dream.

The law says the Sacagawea dollars continue on after the Presidents end. But that was written before the NA dollar program started. My guess is the NA dollar program will continue.

Hopefully by then we will have eliminated the one dollar note, so the actual need for a one dollar coin will exist.

That assumption in play, I am sure Sacagawea will remain on the obverse. They may or may not continue an annual reverse change. I do hope that they get rid of the awful edge lettering.

I'm guessing the NA dollars will continue, but I hope they return the date and mintmark to the obverse like it should be.

The edge lettering isn't likely to disappear as that would require new legislation.
