I believe coins and banknotes will be obsolete in the next 30 years, possibly the next 15. Tightening global economy will lead desperate governments to track every transaction made in it's currency for taxation purposes.
Sweden is leading the charge, but there are also countries like the UK where cash transactions are up in the last few years.

Never. As long as electronic payment companies charge a fee, somebody will only sell by cash. There's a mall near my house with a mom and pop supermarket that only takes cash. They stopped taking checks a year or so ago.
