Some is but a lot isn't, I'm not sure if the ground stripped it of the coating or if it is an error.

The fact that this is a metal detector find would lend credibility to the opinion that this coin is environmentally damaged and not an error.

Well, I don't know. It was certainly environmental, so I guess it was put in a penny roll or something.
