I've just received the new syllabus of the Royal Numismatic Society, and it looks very interesting as usual.

More info at http://royalnumismaticsociety.org.

If anyone wants to apply for fellowship, I'd be happy to support with a general reference,

Sounds like some great lectures. Wish I could find a reason to hop across the pond...

I don't get to many -it's a minimum of £120 round trip and 3 days away, however, the after lecture parties are great fun and there's usually interesting people and coins to meet and see (and sometimes buy).

The annual volume (free to Fellows) contains all the lectures and other articles and reviews as well, and I think that's well worth the membership fee.

bha110,
It's difficult for me to advise you without knowing a bit more about you - say after 100 posts on CCF.

In general, saying "I collect coins" won't impress anyone; there's an expectation that you're engaged in numismatic research or possibly an experienced collector well-known to dealers.

If you have a numismatic related occupation curator, auctioneer, coin dealer, research studentship; it's worth mentioning. If you have written articles, books or have lectures, mention them too with one or more titles. If you have an especial interest in a particular series, eg the coins of Nero, or French feudal coins, or Indian banknotes mention that too and/or which aspect particularly interests you.

I've generally found the lectures interesting and thought-provoking and I've always learnt something (usually quite a lot), however membership isn't cheap and I wouldn't encourage anyone to join, particularly if they're just a general collector.

If you would like to post your interests, please do so.
