1886 O Morgan $1 at least MS60.

I've had this coin for around 10 years. Thinking it's time to get graded! Figure it looks a good enough quality to deserve the expense. I had another one but had to sell a few years ago to help with expenses. Too bad. I wanted to send them both in together for grading. Wasn't to be. But I am very happy to have saved this one. And want to keep it in my collection for awhile longer.

Maybe up to a 62. I am curious about the Mint Mark. Seems to have something going on. Plus Maybe doubling in leafs and action in the motto USA. The OBV also shows activity in the lower curls of her hair. And other areas.

What do you think? Comments? On grade and variety?

It looks like it could be MS but we would need to see better photos. If you didn't pay MS money for it 10 years ago, there's a good chance that it's a slider. Most of the pups to attribute an 1886-o need to be seen under magnification other than the date and mm position. I would suggest comparing your mm to the O/O varieties at VAMworld if this is what you see going on.

....and, in typical Morgan fanatic pedantry, I must mention that all Morgans are VAMs, whether we've designated them yet or not.

This is a date/mm which becomes pricey indeed in Mint State. In AU55-58 it's maybe a $200 coin max; in MS62 it's a $2000 coin. You'll therefore find a TPG to be pretty picky about calling it Mint State. If there's any doubt in their minds, they'll call it AU.

in my opinion, it's an AU coin. Perhaps AU-55.
