Well, at least I think it's SUPPOSED to be ancient gold I am just posting this for a friend, I have not seen it in person yet. Looks like a repro to me but thought I'd post it here just to get some consensus on what this guy is!

Certainly not an ancient Roman coin.

Rather a special "coin" issued by the now defunct Steel Company "ITALSIDER".

The huge, decaying, industrial complex is west of the centre of the city of Napoli, Italy.

Note the implements on the reverse, the Tongs, Cast Moulds and Hammer.

It would be interesting to know how your friend got this "coin"?
