Anyone know or willing to share good places to buy silver the cheapest? Preferably online. I have been searching and have found a few nice places, but wondering if one place stands out as the cheapest.

Thanks,
Noah

First I will say the bank, (pay face value, can't beat that).
Next I will say Provident Metals online.
There are a few places that are quite competitive pricewise, Provident is one.

--Goldmart usually has the lowest prices, but they're notorious for over-the-top shipping delays and alienating people with their inhospitable brand of what they call "customer service."
--As said above, Provident is very good. Modest delays, excellent service, pretty good inventory, etc.
--Gainesville has a history that some consider troubling. Google Gainesville Coins Reviews and National Gold Exchange Tampa FL Reviews. NGE is the previous name of GVC.
You can also find posts here in CCF about GVC shipping damaged products and refusing to accept returns. Use the search function. Make your own decision on GVC.
--APMEX has the best inventory--bar none, but their prices run high and their shipping charges are vicious. They do have some good buys, but you have to shop carefully.
--Scottsdale, SilverTowne, Monarch and others are pretty much OK.
--NW Territory has some eclectic products (silver bullet bullion) but their shipping delays tend to run long.
--Kitco has good prices but a $2,500 minimum order, which keeps a lot of us away from them.
--Choice Bullion is new but has a good rep so far and is working hard to get better known.

There are many others. Always google up reviews and do your homework before you go shipping your money out.

I don't think you'll regret doing your homework on LCS's, either. If you can find one or more good ones, you'll likely end up doing most of your buying there. Also check out any local
coin shows. You have to know the vendors, but there are a few at my local shows that I always check out and who I've bought regularly from.

Happy hunting, happy shopping and be sure to do your own due diligence. "YODD" is your best friend and the #1 thing keeping you from getting ripped off.

A few years back I found a guy on ebay selling silver and his listed home was the next town over from me. I asked him if I won the auction could I pick my silver up in person. W/great caution we both agreed on a place/time/public/ etc.... Found out he moves a fair amount of PM's and when I have the cash he gives me a better price over spot than any of my local coin shops/dealers. We have also made some really fair trades.

Comparesilverprices.com. Also, check out "industrial silver." There's no hallmark but I've seen it as low as 20 cents over spot.

Personally, I would say the best is to go out and recruit. I started talking to coworkers and so far 50% collect in one form or another. When I see sterling, watch, or jewelry dealers, I explain I only want the gold/silver, and they're often happy to pull out what they have. Especially used watch dealers' eyes light up when I tell them I don't care if it works or not. At the last coin show I worked at, the spoon guy told me he gets 90% on spot from his smelter, so he would sell to me at that price.

I got an Amazon £20 voucher and used it to buy a 1oz Silver Kukaburra for £30, so technically it was £10 and thus under spot:)

I wonder where in the UK you can get it cheap.

I found so far (which I tried the first 2) but none of them are really cheap:
BullionByPost.co.uk (Birmingham, double packaging)
TheGoldBullion.co.uk (Birmingham in the jewellery quarter,
which is also ScrapGoldUk, triple packaging + with certificate! but it's a bit pricey)

bullionuk.com (in big lots they seem the cheapest in the UK on some of their coins, but minimum order is £500)
HattonGardenMetals.com (London)
Goldline.co.uk (which is Baird, London)
Atsbullion.com (London, next to Savoy Hotel)

Purametal.co.uk (seems cheap on some of their Baird bars but on their website the SSL certificate expired so this may be a scam?)

Price comparison site would be nice for UK:)

Thrift stores. You have to learn how to spot it. Also, if you can take advantage of any pawnshop that is not in the know of things and doesn't jack up their prices as an estimate. Don't lose any sleep if you get an amazing bargain. Imagine what they paid for it and you'll feel better about it.

Oh for online dealers, provident seems to be the cheapest on silver overall with low delivery fees. You have to do check or bank transfer for the lowest deals (usual for some reason) but for some items, you don't have to buy in bulk. 10ozt bars and rounds from their house brand are at the lowest tier regardless of amount. But, keep looking, I just found a place on a random banner ad that will price match (dont remember the name.)

My best place to find cheap silver is right on the ground. Just pick it up or dig it out.
