This month has been slow. I've found about 40 cents, and I have no more dig sites to explore.

I'm supposed to be going to the 1800s house later this month or early next month. Also waiting to detect a cotton field.

But I have $4.51, Oddities, etc.

Still Waiting For That Elusive Silver To Pop Out!

Update on the ongoing saga of digging up weird junk - a saga that we are all participants in, knowing or unknowing *dramatic music plays*

My first and only silver was a tacky little bangle in a playground, so it can turn up in unlikely places - I almost tossed it back before noticing the .925 (I find lots of trashy plastic/lead jewelery bits that go right in the trash, but I keep all good-looking solid metal pieces).

I have been hunting new parks and haven't had the same kind of luck I had at the community center, but it's better than nothing. My problem lately has been that, even on my days off, I have been having to work, so I haven't had time. I need to make some time this weekend to hit up a park.

I'm going to create a thread and update it with my finds too. Of course, I have to get out there and do some MDing to have anything to post about. I've been so busy lately I haven't had time. I am going to try to make some time this afternoon though!

Gold pan? I wish I had a need for something like that around here. The only gold I am likely to find in this area is someone's ring, or a coin. I've thought about buying a smaller coil for my detector, like a 4" or (if I could find one cheap enough) a 4X6". It'd make my search areas smaller per pass, but the smaller coil would be more accurate with locations that have a lot of other junk in them and would be better at actually picking up coins. The one I have now is the standard 8" one it came with. It'd be nice to have options.

Hey, you're alive! I got a new coil for my MD but haven't found anything but coins with it so far. I'm about to post my latest find, but it's nothing amazing or anything. Just don't want to keep my loyal fans waiting. :)

Nice! And yes, I do live....

But I have 5 sites to explore now. The 1800s house, which will be very soon, my local park, established in 1949, a older plantation site, the house is gone so I cant be sure, an old mill, and an old cotton field where indians used to camp!

I'm starting to run out of places to hunt. I may have to start rechecking old sites. I figure schools are good at the end of each school year, but other places like parks probably won't have the same volume of finds as they do initially. I kind of want to go hunt some lake shores and camp grounds but I need to make time and go find some to search. Between work, classes and an unexpected and upcoming vacation, I don't know if I will have time before the winter weather really starts up.
