hi guys,I'm trying to refine my noodled coins and have heaps of 1997 fiftys. Most are in average condition. I am thinking of sending most of them back ,please tell me whether I'm wasting my time keeping this coin in it's lower grades. Cheers. On another note I finally scored an incused fifty, though I owe that find to my brother. Took two years

The 1997 50c has a mintage of only 4.3 million but that still makes it fairly common in circulation as they don't mint as many 50c as they do the lower denominations.

I started returning them to the pond a while ago only keeping the high grade ones

Thanks Mob of Roos , it's easy to let this hobby get away from you ,my count today is 78 compared with a dozen 1991 fiftys from the same collecting period. Back to the pond cheers

It is good to do a clear out every now and then. I gutted my collection last year (or maybe the year before!) I laughed at the rubbish that I once thought was good, back to the pond as you say :-) Halved it I think from memory.

Might be worth a try to offer some of the better ones on the 'Bay in groups of five or so. There is always someone out there who may want one or more.

I only keep the better ones of those. Same with 1973 although better of those is not quite so good.
It would have to be a very bad 1985 or 1993 for me to throw it back.

I do find that the more I have (especially the more common coins) the fussier I get.
