Hello all. I tried asking on the RFD forum but didn't get much response. So I figured a board on this forum might have a better chance of getting answers. I have been looking around for the 2006 Breast Cancer Bookmark but haven't found any for sale, anywhere. Someone told me on RFD that the issue price was 14$ and there were about 40k minted. Has anyone seen one of these sell recently? If so, where? Thanks! Here is the coin on Gatewest: http://store.gatewestcoin.com/cgi/v...53c&t=564596

I bought one off ebay about a year and a half ago for $17.81 total including tax and shipping. Charlton 2014 Vol 2 gives a mintage of 40,911, issue price of $13.95 and book value of $35. p.s. I've seen a few comments that if you try to remove it from the plastic you easily damage or remove the pink ribbons so I haven't dared try.

Thanks for the info Kuh_85. I am guessing the plastic on the coin is the same as the Vancouver Olympic quarters in the Esso Cards. I only ever tried removing one of them and had no issue with color loss, although I have heard the same as you about the possibility for the colour to come off. So why are there none of these for sale anywhere? There isn't even any on ebay, for sale or ones that have been sold.

I'm not really tied into the dealer world so couldn't really say. Maybe just a lack of awareness that it is a different coin from the circulation one? For example, I've been working through the Vol 2 checking off items in my collection and recently found there was a 2005 poppy quarter issued; but only in a bookmark. There was only one dealer on ebay had them listed and no other sellers in completed listings either. These coins aren't mentioned in the more widely read Vol 1. And Vol 2 only started publishing in 2010. p.s. I would expect the painting process was improved between 2006 and 2010. I've taken loonies out of the plastic by boiling before without damage. If I ever get my hands on a second 2006 25c maybe I'll try removing it. Just went back to check Vol 2 and the warning about damage is actually included there. I think that's the only place I've seen it in the entire catalogue (although I'm not all the way through yet).

Maybe I should list some on ebay... I didn't sell any for years, I stopped bringing them to coin shows...

Quote: How many do you have SPP-Ottawa? None now... I gave one to a friend who is recovering from breast cancer, donated one to a silent auction (United Way) and I sold my last one to a CCF member this week...

@ aswitzer if you are still looking for this coin And bookmark coins_collector has it listed with 1 bid. The auction ends in 1-2 days. Just thought you still might want to know.

Thanks for the heads up pocket change, but the one that coins_collector has up for auction is the First Day Strike breast cancer quarter. The one I was asking about comes in a bookmark and the ribbons around the outer edge of the quarter are coloured pink.
