So I stopped by an antique store that has a coin dealer set up inside. I perused his copper selection and finally asked if he had any King George half pennies. He plopped a coin in front of me and told me it was a KG III half penny. I knew right away it wasn't, even though it looked a lot like one. I figured maybe it was an evasion piece. So, I paid him $3 and took it home.
To my surprise I ended up buying a William III half penny from 1695-1701. This is officially my oldest (non ancient) coin. I wish there was a readable date but I will take what I've got!
