I assume this to be a replica but looks very like real silver, The non-oxidized parts are very very shiny (photo doesn't show it). The edges are very smooth shiny, other that a small area of oxidization. Also it does not look exactly like any of the many replicas I researched. If it is at least silver, would it have enough for me to sell it and buy a real decent roman coin (I am officially in love with them)

Thanks for any help, wonderful informative site, though I am finding out more than I would like to know about my coins.

It's a replica that's for sure. Does not look like silver, what is the size and weight?

Thanks for replying. diameter is 26 mm (the ruler I photographed it against is metric). Sadly I do not have a scale of the kind necessary. If I found a way to weigh it would you be able to tell me it is silver?
How come it does not look like any of the many fakes I've seen? Is it really true that only gold escudos should have those inscriptions and not silver reales? Or is that only an assumption based on what has been found so far? Thanks again
