I was offered the following coin and I agreed to buy it. I know the seller (we did some transactions of both sides) and the coin is 27,5 euro's (which I think is a good price) Its a coin with good detail and the weight seems ok. What do you think of it? Thrace-Apollonia Pontika, AR Drachm, c.400-350 BC (No legend) Round-faced Gorgon, protruding tongue, snaky ringlets encircling face Anchor, crayfish to left, A to right SNG BM Black Sea 161var 14mm - 2,84 gr Edited by Dutchgulden 10/15/2013 2:19 pm

Looks OK to me. Correct weight, flan appears authentic, all the devices seem legit. Good price.

I can't say for certain about this coin, but it looks OK in the pictures. I would like to examine it 'in hand' confirm the weight, compare with as many other illustrations I can find, and discuss with a couple of my professional numismatic friends.
We would probably discuss it over a friendly lunchtime meal!
I very much realize the I am in a more fortunate position to do this. Perhaps Sap may know who these Sydney based friends are. We are all members of the ANS.

I got a similar one a month or two ago. It was kind of an accident. Monitoring the auction as each lot closed, awaiting a particular coin, was Skyping with my mom, glanced up at the wrong part of the screen and though my coin was on the block, hit bid, and won-- this coin, not the one I was waiting for (which I also got a few lots later). Not a bad mistake though, it's a keeper Gotta be more careful though, could've been disastrous.
